Johan is averaging 9.87 strikeouts per nine innings so far this season. Only two Mets starters have ever struck hitters out at that high a rate over a full season: David Cone (9.91 Ks per 9 iP in 1990) and Dwight Gooden (11.39 Ks per 9 IP in 1984 when he was 19 years old -- hence "Doctor K").See I told you he wasn't a hack.
