By shagging flyballs in BP. A freak injury to say the very least, but to say this is a devastating blow to the Yankees is an understatement.
This would be a very sad end to Mariano's career if this is truly the end. Despite the dislike for the Yankees, Rivera was always a class guy and you knew when #42 emerged from the bullpen, it was game over.

Amen. Like I said several times, he's the only one on the team now and from the original "dynasty core" whom I have the utmost respect for. Never trashed talked anybody, never flaunted his success, he just closed games and did his thing. Even though he has nothing left to prove, I hope he comes back next year just so he can end his career on a positive note, even if it's just for a few appearances. This is no way to end it.
