So now that the regular season is only about 10 days away from starting, we should probably begin our discussion of when to hold this year's Outing. Based on the successful nature of last year's Outing (dropping the softball game and meeting at McFadden's), I believe that will serve as the basis for this year's gathering.
After looking at the schedule, we are very short on options for when to hold the Outing, assuming we keep the criteria of a Saturday game at 7pm in place. Based on that, our two options (not counting the game against the Yankees) are:
Saturday, June 16th against the Reds
or
Saturday, August 11th against the Braves
or
Based on popular demand, the July 7th (Saturday) game against the Cubs at 4:10pm is being added to the consideration, and seems to be the new front runner
Personally, the game in August is not possible for me as of right now, but I also know that June is much earlier than we have held the Outing in past years. Any input from the group is more than welcome, including potential alterations to the status quo or any other recommendations that you have.

Here is my one radical proposal. Seeing as we do not need the whole day any longer if we fore-go softball, I think it is feasible to also consider July 7th vs. The Cubbies at 4:05pm. Figure those inclined can begin consuming at MsFaddens at the time the softball game would normally start, and still have 4 hours to indulge before first pitch. This also leaves the possibility open for some post-game debauchery.

June 16th or July 7th will work for me. I think July 7th may be preferable. We've never done the day game before.

Well based on the responses so far, I am thinking July 7th may be the way to go. Still want to hear from a few more of the regulars, but there seems to be a pretty good consensus going thus far.

2006 we lost to Kris Benson and the Orioles
2007 we beat the A's thanks to Loduca's roid rage
2008 we lost to the Cardnals in extra extra innings
2009 we beat
2010 we lost to the Phillies despite the beach balls.
2011 we beat
Somebody fill in the blanks. I blame Bruce "Just one more shot" Wayne for my memory lapses.

2009 we beat I don't remember, but Pagan hit a GW GS and Ollie started. THIS was the beach ball game. I was there for the beach balls, but not the Phillies.

2010 I broke my thumb playing softball, but didn't get it checked out till after the Pines and after sitting through a 9-0 blowout to the Phillies ... who Ray hates.

I'm down. Any date should work so long as it's a weekend.
