The three HRs from yesterday weren't bad either.

Three home runs yesterday, 4 runs scored. No home runs today, 7 runs scored. Sometimes spreading hits around isn't bad either.

They need to stop this. My optimism made me stressed, and I was looking forward to a stress-free year.

Through three games the Mets haven't stolen a base, and don't even have a stolen base attempt yet. Will they try one tonight? The last time the Mets went the first four games of a season without at least one SB attempt was 1964.

Can't say enough about these guys right now, 4-0, and another win last night, this time against the Nats on a Danny Murphy walk-off single (he has to be Irish with a name like that, right?) :-) plus Niwewnhaus hit his first MLB career home run. Seems like Pelfrey more or less stunk (I've only seen highlights, I don't do games with a first-pitch start time of well after midnight BST) but the Mets bullpen were faultless for innings 6 through 9. Wednesday should be fun...Santana against Strasburg, plus it's an early start so I can watch. Ike Davis still doesn't have a hit in 15 at bats, though that situation will quickly change I'm sure, but Jason Bay can only be in the team at all presumably because the Mets can't really have a guy making $17 million a year playing in AA ball.

Had the new wild card rules been in effect last season, the Braves, with 89 wins, would have had the worst record for an NL postseason team.

Using that same number for this year's NL postseason cutoff, the Mets must win at least 85 of the next 158 games to make the postseason.

Using some nifty math (summation of nCr with n = 158 and r = i, where i is every integer from 85 to 158, divided by the total amount of possible outcomes for 158 games [2^158]), the probability that the Mets win those 85 games is 19.08%.

Of course, I'm holding a few nontrivial factors constant.

I like this team's bullpen

We will hit enough

If Santana is healthy I like the rotation and he looks healthy

Great to see so many home grown guys ready to contribute.

This is a team to root for.

Cue the theme tune to 'The Natural' movie...David Wright just hit a 409 foot home run to deep centre field in Philly....with a broken finger!

So indeed, this is a team to root for!

Couldn't agree more...Rube and Kirk have both been extremely pleasant surprises thus far
