We're down to just one or two games remaining. 980 has a substantial but not insurmountable lead of, well, just about 980. Through 106 years of post-season play, going back to the first World Series in 1903, no one has ever overcome that big a Prediction Game lead at this point in the Series. But there is always a first time.

The standings:

980: 6,390
Zach: 5,413
ils: 4,873
Doc: 4,867
gak: 4,536
DW: 3,740

Cards, and I'm pretty sure that's the only option. Cause if you choose Rangers, and you win, you still can't catch up to 980, and the game would be over because the Rangers winning ends the postseason. I sense a plot hole.

Based on the way the game is scored, this is not necessarily true.

I feel like Vizzini right now.

It also depends on how you value other results, such as coming in second instead of third, or avoiding last place, or finishing above 5,000 points (which is where you started). Or indeed perhaps there are those who prefer last place, which after all is where nice guys finish.

LOL, this sounds like a Q&A after a philosophy lecture...

Or the game theory branch of economics or math -- that Princess Bride scene comes up in some game theory courses and texts.

Crazy, crazy stuff.

And Ron Washington has a few questions to answer.
