Mariano Rivera became the Yankees' closer in 1997. From 1997 on, he has 597 saves. Over that same period other Yankee pitchers have 110 saves.

Most saves since 1997 by a Yankee pitcher not named Mariano Rivera:
1. Ramiro Mendoza 16
2. Mike Stanton 15
3. Steve Karsay 12
T4. Kyle Farnswoth and Jeff Nelson 7
T6. Tom Gordon and Juan Acevedo 6
8. Joba Chamberlain 4

All of Karsay's saves as a Yankee, 6 of Stanton''s and 4 of Mendoza's came in 2002, when Mariano struggled with injuries.

Most Saves by a Mets Pitcher, 1997-2011:
1. Armando Benitez 160
T2. John Franco and Billy Wagner 101
4. Francisco Rodriguez 83
5. Braden Looper 57
6. Turk Wendell 10
T7. Luis Ayala and Aaron Heilman 9
