I'm still amazed there is no explanation for a 10 MPH decrease in the fastball of an under 30 year old pitcher.

Explanation: He sucks.

Today's line score:

3IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 2BB, 1K

Perhaps the final line score in a Mets uniform?

Nope tomorrow they are announcing the shocking news that he is only competing for a bullpen spot.

Do we really care if the Mets go through the motions of giving Ollie a shot at the bullpen, after having gone through the motions of giving him a shot at the starting rotation? Some day soon the Mets may want to do business with Boras again and if he considers the Mets a team that treats even his failing clients with respect, that's a potentially useful result while it costs the team nothing to pursue this charade in spring training.

and as it played out to todays final chapter, perez was quoted as saying how he felt the new mets regime of alderson and collins did give him a fair opportunity to compete for both a starting position as well as a bullpen position.

the mets have successfully avoided burning any bridges with boras or his future clients.
