See link to piece from Mike Silva's blog (which in turn cites some interesting (and potentially troubling) analyses by Murray Chass and Joel Sherman.

Doesn’t Mets ownership watch NBC’s The Office? Can’t they see the problems “co-management” creates in the Dunder Mifflin hierarchy? Maybe Michael Scott and Jim Halpert are next on the Mets GM short list. They amazing part of all this is the Mets are guilty of simple management sins. This type of structure doesn’t work for a fictional paper company in Scranton, much less a big league ballclub.
Really? It's a freakin television show.....
Anyway, I better get hopping on making me a billionaire. The Wilpons' selling might be sooner than later....

Like I have said many times this off season, no matter what the Mets organization does someone in the 'media' will call them out. All we have heard about is the 100's of millions the Mets lost with Bernie despite the FO saying the Mets did not lose anything near that and may have actually made money. MLB looked at their books and came to same conclusion. Now the Wilpons are being called out that they were really in cahoots with Bernie? If they were, they should be punished, but I have never read anywhere that they were even being investigated from a legal standpoint. You know why Fred still holds a fondness for the Brooklyn Dodgers? Just take a look at the fans of each.

I had the same reaction when I was reading this entry. Maybe Silva was being ironic here, but it doesn't read like it -- it reads like he was using a fictional business as the actual evidence for his management critique of the Mets. Unfortunately, Mike's blog has a lot of these lapses -- he'll seem to be discussing a point that might be interesting, and then he'll lapse into unsupported cliches, random non sequiturs and irrelevant provocations. The guy really needs a ruthless editor if he's going to be taken seriously in the long run.

I think the article has some merit, but it's over-dramatized. The Wilpons won't implode the team, and they're not going to sell, either.
